The Smartphone Lowdown: our Parent Talk, now on your phone

"Tech wizard wanted"

[.style-intro] Our Parent Talk went viral in school halls. Now it’s a free, ten-minute interactive experience you can do from the sofa. [.style-intro]

When we first put together the SFC Parent Talk, the idea was simple: create a powerful talk any parent could share with other parents in their community.

We had no idea quite how far it would spread.

Two years on, it’s one of the cornerstones of the Smartphone Free Childhood movement. Our community has given it more than 2,000 times. By school-hall standards, that’s pretty much viral.

We’ve seen what happens in those rooms. Parents hear the facts and realise they’re not alone. Conversations start. Parent Pact sign-ups climb. Whole school communities begin to change.

Now we want to bring that experience to even more parents, so we’ve rebuilt it for your phone.

‍

👾 What it is‍

The Smartphone Lowdown is the Parent Talk, reimagined as a ten-minute interactive experience. It’s a chance to understand how smartphones are changing childhood, and to discover what we can do to make things better together.

It’s free, there’s nothing to download, and you can do it from the sofa.

📋 What’s inside‍

Part one is a quick quiz on how childhood has changed, with some seriously surprising facts along the way.

Part two is the hopeful bit: practical things families can do, whether your kids have a smartphone yet or not.‍

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Who it’s for ‍

Any parent with questions about kids and smartphones. That might be the friend feeling the pressure from their kid, the class WhatsApp group that’s still unsure about all this, or someone who just needs some help.

‍

Nothing beats getting together with other parents in your school community, so if there’s an SFC Parent Talk coming up near you, be sure to go along. But not every parent can make it to a school hall, and now they don’t have to.

👉 Get the Smartphone Lowdown

It only takes ten minutes, and it could make a world of difference to your kids. When you’re done, share it with a parent who’d find it useful.
